Slim Chance Play Ronnie Lane: Only London Show

Singer, songwriter and brilliant all-round musician Ronnie Lane was known for the humour, emotion and his spirituality he put into his songs. He was a born entertainer, combining East End nous with romance. To Ronnie every gig was an event, a party and today Slim Chance are dedicated to recreating that sense of fun and enjoyment in their gigs.

The songwriting partnership of Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott  was one of the greatest of the 1960s, up there with Lennon and McCartney and Jagger/ Richards. Small Faces’ classics like Itchycoo Park and Lazy Sunday are amongst the most loved songs of all time and are still played today, almost 50 years after their creation. The Small Faces transformed into The Faces and became one of the great rock & roll bands of the 1970s. Ronnie Lane’s next major project, the Passing Show, was fantastically musically-rich but maybe not quite as well received: it was before its time.

‘How Come’ was Ronnie Lane’s last hit but not his last great song. He embraced the gypsy life, moved to rural Shropshire, where he surrounded himself with showman’s wagons. Ronnie found spiritual inspiration with Meher Baba, and he continued writing and performing with his band Slim Chance as well as other musicians, such as Pete Townsend and Eric Clapton, even after he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, the disease that finally felled one of the greatest talents of our age at the early age of 51.
